Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Take me out the crowd, buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks and pretzels and sno cones and pepsi and hot dogs and chips ....... You get the idea. Of course the best part of any sporting event is the food. As soon as we walked into the stadium Londyn commented on how she loved the smell. So much like their mother, it's sad really.
Trying to take advantage of the amazing weather we're having, we went to the Drillers game Saturday night. We showed up in about the 5th inning as not to have to sit forever and still be able to enjoy the fireworks, or so we thought. When we got there, the score was like 9 to 2. I thought it would be a quick game. Wishful thinking. In the 7th inning, the other team scored 7 runs and tied the game, ridiculous! We ended up staying for 2 extra innings, but by 10:30, I couldn't take anymore, so we headed home. Londyn was extremely disappointed to have to miss the fireworks, but overall, we had a great time!

This is Skylar and Londyn refusing to look normal while I try to take a picture of them in front of the field. I could barely get them to stand near each other, and Londyn has quite a habit of looking away from the camera. I'm not sure what that's all about. Anyway, I hope you are all enjoying your summer days and nights so far!

The Drive-In

What makes for a better evening than great weather, a stop at the QT for the $.49 drinks, and a Drive-In movie?
Kevin's been working so much, we decided we needed a family night out, so he suggested the Drive-In. The girls had a blast cuddling in the back of the car sipping their drinks, eating their candy and enjoying a little popcorn. I think they enjoyed the movie too, at least one of them!

The Zoo

So, there are no actual zoo animals in any of these photos, but blogger was giving me fits. It wouldn't let me upload any of the pics that I selected. Anyway, last Monday, the celebratory day off, Kevin had to work so the girls and I headed to the zoo. Apparently every other Tulsan had the same idea because it was a little crowded. It was a beautiful day, a little warm, but nice. I refused to take the stroller because I think they are too old to be riding in a stroller around the zoo, but I also knew that there was no way I was going to be able to carry them if they got tired. We resorted to renting a wagon which was not my best idea. At first, it wasn't too bad, and it worked for holding my purse and camera. They thought it was fun to pull each other, so this was fun while it lasted. When it came time for me to pull them both, we were slow moving. A pregant lady pulling both girls in 90 degree heat was not a pretty sight. We took many breaks!
I think it's funny that with all of the intersting animals at the zoo, the girls never cease to be amazed by the turtles. They would have been okay to stay and look at the turtles in the pond all day.
When they asked to ride the train, I was thrilled! I'm not always so easy to persuade, but in my current state, any chance to sit down and relax, I'll take it! I'm sure there will be several summer zoo pics since we have our season pass and it's a fun, easy excursion, at least until it gets too hot.
On another note, I need help reducing the size of my photos so I can load them more easily. Does anyone know how to do that? If so, please comment and help me out. Thanks!

Let's Swim

The girls were invited to a pool party Sunday afternoon for a friend's birthday. They were beside themselves with excitement to get to swim for the first time this year. The girls sporting the swimsuits Grandma Del bought them on spring break! Thanks Grandma!
As I was loathing in my usual pregnancy self-pity this evening and this photo came up as I as downloading, I had to laugh out loud. I'm not sure who ever thought swim goggles were cool, but I'm thinking not so much.

So happy to be wet! This is quite a different mood from moments later when an ant was discovered in her carseat and she was screaming bloody murder. She actually asked if we could walk home. I don't get it, she loved the idea of cutting open a frog, but the site of a miniscule ant will put her into hysteria. Go figure!

Pony Party

Skylar's Bible class teachers organized a Pony Party for the kids today. The girls had a great time! I was so glad to have something to do today because our weekend was looking quite uneventful. The forecast predicted rain, and Kevin is having to work all weekend. This was the perfect afternoon outing and wore us all out enough to have a nice long rest this afternoon. The weather ended up being quite nice for most of the day, and is just now starting to get stormy. It's always a toss up as to whether or not the girls will touch or ride the ponies, but fortunately they did today, and couldn't stop talking about it.

One of the boys captured a frog, and was having a hard time keeping track of it. This is a few of the kids trying to find him in the pond.

We've Got the Beat

I had too many pictures to try to narrow down, so I'm posting the shrunken versions in collage form. The girls have not been thrilled about dance this year, they don't like practicing apparently. However, they were excited recital morning, ready to put on a show! These are a few pictures I snapped of them posing before the show.
This is an attempt at the girls in action, the lighting was not so good, but as good as I could get without a flash.

This is the girls after the show with their flowers and each of their family members that came to support them.
Recital day never comes without it's fair share of stress, and this year was no different. Not only was our schedule demanding with an early morning practice, we had a house full of people, I'm pregnant, we are trying to keep our house immaculate in case someone wants to come take a look, not to mention trying to get the girls decked out and ready to go. To say that I was a little "edgy" is probably an understatement. However, when 3:30 rolled around, and the girls were checked in and backstage I could finally relax. Just like every other year, it was so much fun to watch, and one of my favorite events of the year. I'm sad that Skylar doesn't want to be in dance next year, but I guess we're moving on. Londyn has decided to give it one more year so she can get her three year trophy. So I guess I have one more year to enjoy puffy tutus and huge hairpieces.
To our family that came, thank you! Thank you for driving and/or flying all the way to OK to stay in a cramped house with a grouchy hostess to support my girls! Everytime we talk about recital, they always ask who's coming. It means a lot to them (and me, of course) to have you here!

Frog Guts Anyone?

This week at school I dissected frogs with my 2nd and 3rd graders. The frogs were actually thawing out in my refrigerator and the girls saw them in there. They started asking all kinds of questions, and decided they wanted to dissect a frog too. I told them if I had an extra, I would let them try it. One of my students was absent today, so it just so happened I had one frog left over. I thought they would be grossed out, but they loved it! Skylar was all about cutting it open and finding the organs. My girly girls may just be coming around......

Check It Out

Life has been a little wild around her lately, and I don't have much to talk about, but if you're browsing the internet and are looking for a few more ways to use your time you can check out the girls most recent photo shoot at www.betsygregoryphotography.com . The username is devin_l_lawrence@yahoo.com and the password is dance.

You can also check out the virtual tour of our home at http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/Broken-Arrow_OK_74014_1108959160 . Not that it's of that much interest to you, but that is where we have spent a lot of our time lately, and I was pleased with the way the tour turned out. It seems a little bare to me, but I guess that's the way it's supposed to be to make it look more spacious. I just hope it sells quickly because I'm not sure we can maintain the current level of cleanliness and actually be living in our house.

In other news, I had my 20 week appointment yesterday and the doctor said everything looks great, and he confirmed that we are in fact having a boy.

That's all for now, I hope you are enjoying your May days! If I had my guess, yours is just as busy as mine!

My Mother's Day

This weekend has been quite busy trying to get things done around the house, but we did take some time today to celebrate. It was so funny, the girls made me a Mother's Day gift at school earlier in the week, and they couldn't wait to give them to me. Tuesday when they got home from school, they ran into my room and closed the door. They got out my gift wrapping tub that was under my bed and "wrapped" my present. They ended up using gift bags, and stuffing it with all sorts of tissue because they said I like all the colors. They were so proud and so excited about their gifts which made them that much more special. I can't believe they actually kept it a secret until today, but they someohow managed. Skylar made me a coin purse, and Londyn made me a bracelet that she said I can wear everyday! Perfect gifts, of couse, but nothing more perfect than these two amazing children I have. Oh, and my sweet husband sent me these beautiful roses to work this week for Mother's Day.
This really isn't a great picture of any of us, but it's the only one that has most of me covered which is currently necessary. If you look closely, you can see the girls displaying their precious gifts.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day, Mom! I wish I were there to celebrate with all of you, but I'm sure you'll have a lovely day without me. I don't think you ever truly appreciate your mother until you become one. Then, you understand more about what she did all of those years. Thanks mom for all you do, for always being there and always listening even when I don't have a lot to say. I love you, and hope I am half the mother that you are. Have a great day knowing you are dearly loved and genuinely appreciated for who you are and all you do.

Pregnancy Perks

I usually think only of the negative things during my pregnancy so I've decided to reflect on a few of the perks. I'm sure this attitude will last for about 3 seconds, but at least I tried. I'm pretty sure that anyone who spends any amount of time with me is sick and tired of me complaining. Please don't shun me as your friend, it's only a temporary, I promise. I hate that I've acquired the annoying personality trait of cynicism. I really try not to be annoying, but pregnancy just brings out the worst in me, in more ways than one. Ok, for the perks I can think of(besides the obvious of course, like creating new life, feeling the baby move, etc.):

1. Elastic waist pants-no, they're not pretty, but they sure are comfortable.

2. You never have to suck in.

3. You actually try to stick your belly out after a ginormous meal so you look pregnant not just fat.

4. It's a great excuse to take a nap whenever you're feeling the least bit tired.

5. You can blame pregnancy brain for any stupid thing you do.

6. I spend way less money on clothes because nothing actually looks good, I only buy the necesseties.

7. After you actually have the baby, and are on the downhill slope, people tell you how good you look even if you are fatter than you've ever been in your life. This is because they are used to seeing you look so huge and no one remembers that you were once a normal looking human being.

8. Getting dressed takes way less time because there are not nearly as many things to choose from. I no longer go for looking good, just simply finding something that covers as much of my body as possible.

9. I don't feel guilty for clearing my schedule and going to bed by 9:00PM

10. People around the house work very hard to keep you content for fear of being a victim of a mood swing.

Ten things, that's all I've got, and some of them are stretching it. Now if I were creating a list of negative things about pregnancy, that would be neverending. If you have any other pregnancy perks, I would love to hear them!

Almost Halfway...

I'm pretty much anti-photos when I'm pregnant. So, I actually have no idea what possessed me to make this post other than the only thing going on in my life is that I'm growing astronomically. My belly feels a lot bigger in real-life than I think it looks in this pic. Lucky for me though, the 25 pounds I've gained is dispersed throughout my entire body from my chubby face to my chubby toes. I can't say that I'm surprised, but the fact that I'm not actually even halfway there, and I've gained the recommended amount of weight for the entire pregnancy is a little daunting. The next few months should be great!

Cheerful Giving....

Or maybe not so much. Londyn took her purse to church this morning which happened to have a little change in it. When it was time for the offering, she pulled out two pennies and a quarter. Apparently she was trying to decide which she should give. She ultimately decided on giving the two pennies. I would like to have thought she didn't know the value of the coins and thought that two was more than one. However, when Kevin asked her why, she said she would rather give the quarter to the store.

Heather and Tallon's Wedding

Friday evening we travelled to Fayetteville, AR to my cousin Heather's wedding. It was outside at an adorable chapel. Unfortunately, the rain never let up, so that kept things interesting, but everything was beautiful nonetheless. Please excuse the excess of photos. I put the rest on facebook, but had a hard time narrowing down for the blog. The happy couple
