On the Market

Every year, we think about buying a house, and every year we decide against it. We had actually already decided earlier this year that we were going to go ahead and stay here one more year. Then out of the blue, Kevin came home Sunday and decided that he was ready to put the house on the market and look for a new one. We met with our realtor on Tuesday and the house will officially be on the market tomorrow. I can't decide if it's exciting or stressful. I guess we'll see. So, if you know anyone looking for a home in Northeast Broken Arrow, send them our way!

Watch Your Mouth

Today when I got to Skylar's class to pick her up, the first person I came in contact with was a little boy that informed me that Skylar told her class that I say bad words. Not knowing quite how to respond, I quickly but kindly let him know that I didn't say bad words. So when I get Skylar and we start talking, the conversation went like this....

Me: Skylar, did you tell your class that I say bad words?

Skylar: Yes, because you do say bad words.

Me: What bad words did you hear me say.

Skylar: Well, you said you look like a fat cow, and fat is a bad word.

Me: When you told your class that I said bad words, did you tell what words I said? (thinking this may provide clarity for what her teachers think of me, not to mention the parents of her friends.)

Skylar: No, I couldn't repeat the bad words. I just told them the words you say are really bad.

So, I am apparently known around the preschool as the mother who says really bad words. The reputation I've always wanted.

Practice, Practice, Practice.....

Recital is about three weeks away, so last Thursday they had parent's night at their dance studio. I got to watch the girls practice their recital routine and we got their costumes. Both of their costumes are so cute, although, I'm not sure last year's zebra print with red can be topped. A few more weeks and all their hard work will have paid off.

Praying for Gavin

Please keep Gavin and his family in your prayers tomorrow. He has HLHS, and is having his third and final surgery tomorrow morning at 7:ooAM in San Diego. They are an amazing family and have been through so much. I'm sure they would appreciate your prayers throughout the day tomorrow. As a parent, I can't imagine the mixture of emotions they must be feeling. Click on the button below to read more about Gavin.

I Can't Believe......

We're going to have a BOY!! This will be a whole new world for me. For the last 6 years, I've been consumed with girly things, I'm not sure I will know what to do with a boy. I suppose I'll figure it out...

A Visit From the Easter Bunny

The baskets before being torn into, very proud of myself for using the baskets they happened to bring home from school Thursday as opposed to buying cuter ones I had my eyes on. I don't know why I care about things like that because Skylar actually wanted to sit out shoes and have the Easter Bunny put her candy there.
Digging through the baskets to see what they got. Overall, they were very pleased with their treats. Last year Skylar had a self-proclaimed allergy to chocolate, and this year Londyn told me she didn't like chocolate. (Londyn's actually lasted for about 5 seconds because she loves chocolate, I have no idea where that came from.) Londyn also asked about presents. Apparently someone, I don't know who, told her she would get presents for Easter, and this must mean she was expecting something to unwrap. She was a little disappointed at first, but quickly got over it.

Showing off the eggs that they found around the house. I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! I was sad that we didn't get to celebrate wtih my family in MO this year, but we still ended up having a great weekend together just the four of us.

2nd Saturdays

I have heard about Philbrook Musuem's Free 2nd Saturday for a while now, but had never gotten around to taking the girls before today. I wanted to go take their Easter pictures in the gardens, and today happened to be a beautiful day as well as the 2nd Saturday of the month. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was so impressed at how organized everything was. Basically, on the 2nd Saturday of the month you get in free, and they have different art stations set up around the museum for kids to participate in. You can choose one, or go to them all, as well as tour the museum and enjoy the amazing gardens. The girls each got their own art box with a few supplies that you bring with you each month. Today they painted butterflies, and made bugs out of modeling clay. They were very proud of their creations. If you live in the Tulsa area, you should check it out. It's a great family outing, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Good Friday

It's been a long time since I can say I've had a "good" day, but I can honestly say that of today as it comes to an end. (Not to say I've had all bad days, just blah days:) The girls' school was closed today, so I ended up taking the day off to stay at home with them. We started out the morning with a list of chores. Each girl had a list, and loved being able to check off their chores after completing them. They managed to clean up their room, playroom and put away their toys, shoes and clothes that were dispersed throughout the house. We then went to lunch and to the store to pick up a few things for our evening of Easter fun. All the pictures are in reverese order of how the day went, but I don't suppose that's really a big deal to anyone but me. This was our finished tray of decorated cookies.
Skylar and her very detailed egg cookie
Londyn was in charge of decorating the chicks, and did a fine job.

Our plain ol' colored eggs. We did try to add some glitter at the end of our egg dying experience, but I personally just like the plain colored eggs. Every time I try to do anything beyond that I'm not happy with the results.
Concentrating, trying not to crack any eggs.
Having fun dying eggs with each other. They apparently told their teachers at school this year that they had never dyed eggs before, which is untrue. However, I made sure to take lots of pictures this time so I can remind them when the season rolls around again.

Girls after my own heart, none of us can resist eating at least a little cookie dough. We did hold out until almost the end where we didn't really have enough dough to roll out for more cookies. That's a step in the right direction, right?

Sorry about all the pictures. It's just been so long since we've done anything fun, I couldn't help myself. For the first time in a few months, I haven't felt like a complete loser of a mother.

Flashback Friday

April's Flashback Friday theme is "Black Tie Affair". I keep forgetting to post on Fridays. It's like they creep up on me, but let me tell you, right now each one can't come soon enough. Anyway, this is a picture of me before our school prom my junior year. Melinda, we weren't really allowed to go to dances either, I thought I was the only one. My parents however, let me make the decision. I knew how they felt about it, but decided to go anyway. Our class was decorating that year, so I wanted to see it all come together. I went, got my picture taken, and pretty much left. I had a horrible time, those sorts of things are way out of my comfort zone. This was one of the only pictures I could find. At the time, I loved this dress, it has now retired to my girls' dress up trunk. A little flashy, you think? To check out more Flashback Friday "Black Tie Affair" posts, check out Melinda's blog.

Just My Luck

It is certain that if you post it on facebook, write it on your blog, tell everyone else you know, and take your children to your doctor's appointment something is sure to stand in the way of finding out if this baby is a boy or a girl. I still do not know what I am having because when I arrived at my appointment, I was informed that my doctor was out delivering someone else's baby. The desk person so conveniently told me, "Oh, I was just about to call you." Sure you were. Anyway, we'll try again Monday afternoon. The girls were highly disappointed. They asked if we could just go to another doctor's office to find out because they told a lot of people that they would know if they were having a sister or brother by tomorrow. I know how they feel, I guess they can't keep things quiet any more than their mother can. I don't remember praying for patience lately, I learned a long time ago how that works out. I guess God thought I needed a little practice anyway. So, check back Monday.........Maybe, just maybe we'll know something then.

Pink or Blue?

So if all things work together in the universe, tomorrow is a big day at the Lawrence house, we will be finding out if we are having a boy or a girl. We are split, 2 of us think it's a girl, and 2 of us think it's a boy. What do you think?

I Heart Faces-Week 13

This week's theme is My Friend & I, and I immediately thought of this photo from last summer. I just thought it was a cute pic of the girls loving on each other. Even though they are sisters, they are definitely best buds, they don't know what to do without each other. Check out iheartfaces for more My Friend & I face photos.

The Big 3-0!

Kevin will be turning 30 Tuesday, but we celebrated this weekend. Some of our friends from church let us borrow their beautiful lake house for the evening, and we had a great time with several other couples from church. The weather was perfect, so we were able to enjoy the patio and view of the lake. The guys enjoyed the basketball games, and the girls spent the evening talking of course. I didn't take very many pictures of the guests, so I guess I'll just be posting of Kevin for now. Anyway, thanks to those of you that shared the evening with us, it's always fun to have an excuse to get together. Kevin blowing out his 30 candles.
Happy 30th Birthday Kevin! I love you!

Dinner Time

One thing that is important to me is that we eat dinner together, at least occassionally. However, it seems like lately it's few and far between that we have the opportunity. It seems like there is always something going on. Anyway, the girls are always begging to help, and I usually don't let them because I'm in a hurry and just trying to get it done. I have been feeling guilty lately though for not spending as much time with them as I would like, so I gave in and let them help. Londyn insisted on helping brown the hamburger, I'm sure not the safest thing for a 4 year old, but oh well. She then proceeded to teach Skylar how to do it as well. She wasn't as interested, she was afraid of being burned, but didn't want to pass up the photo op.

All Things Baby

We are apparently baby obsessed. This was the snowman that the girls made the other day and wanted me to take a picture of. She is missing her eyes, but has an adorable baby carrot nose and is swaddled in a lovely pink fleece scarf.
