Field Trip

Last year I went on the field trip to the pumpkin patch with Skylar's class, so Londyn thought it was only fair I joined her as well. I was easily persuaded, and so I was able to join the kindergarteners at the pumpkin patch. It was a gorgeous day, and all the kids had a great time . I thoroughly enjoyed the day as well. A little break from the ordinary is always a good thing!

Halloween Party

Last night we hosted a church Halloween Party.... Kevin and I went as Maid Marion and Robin Hood. As I said in the previous post, I was lazy when it came to Halloween this year, and I had purchased this costume a couple of years ago for a Renaissance Faire at school, and felt the need to get more wear out of it. We had a lot of fun, and hope everyone else did too!

So this is the first of several Halloween themed posts, but this is all I had time to muster up at the moment! I must admit that I was a little cheap and a little lazy when it came to costumes this year. Aside from Lincoln, we searched the dress up trunk for something to wear. Londyn decided on a cheerleader, and Skylar a cowgirl. The kids were happy, so I guess that's all that matters!

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Fall Break-The Rest of the Story

As I said earlier, we went to MO for fall break to visit my family and my mom had all kinds of activities planned for the kids. Unfortunately, Skylar got strep while we were there, so she wasn't very involved, but she would come join the fun when she felt up to it. The rest of the kids had a blast playing the games and just being together. Bobbing for apples and the Frankenstein walk. Lincoln was adamant about bobbing for apples, he wasn't going to be left out.
The mummy game

The scarecrow dressing contest and the donut chasing game (I'm not sure of the name of that one)

The hayride which is always a family favorite!

The cousins (minus Skylar)

Just the four of us. We definitely missed having Kevin with us. That whole having to work thing is a real bummer:( We still had a great time hanging out with family and enjoying the gorgeous fall weather, not to mention all the great activities!

Fall Break Preview

I am always eagerly anticipating fall break. It is not only my favorite season of the year, but it is the first break from school! A couple of years ago, my mom planned a lot of fall/Halloween activities to do with the kids, and it was such a hit, it is now a fall break tradition. So, we headed to Missouri to see what was in store for the Fredendall Fall Fest 2010! I came home with 44o pictures that I am trying to sift through, but I thought in the meantime I would post a little preview from our weekend. There will be more fall break pics to come! A few of the food items that my mom made with the kids.

Let's Celebrate!

A couple of weekends ago, I got to spend the evening with a few of my favorite people! We get together occasionally to celebrate birthdays, and this time we happened to be celebrating mine (yes, my bday is in August, it's just hard to get everyone together) as well as my friend Tara's which makes it even more fun! It was a much needed night out, and I came away with some pretty great gifts! Thanks ladies, I don't know what I would do without you!

Tulsa Friends of OC Night Out

I'm playing a little catch up here, but a couple of weeks ago, we hosted the Tulsa Friends of OC night out. By we, I mean my husband was somehow coerced into organizing this event. I was a little stand offish about it myself knowing that it was a crazy time of year for me, but I must admit, I had a great time, and Kevin did a nice job of getting it all together himself. There was food, a speaker, door prizes and entertainment, so I'm letting the lack of tableclothes and decorations slide this time. There were about 50 people in attendance, and I think everyone had a good time, so hopefully it's the beginning of something good! Dr. Ken Miller, the republican nominee for state treasurer, was the speaker.
The enternainment was provided by Acapella. (Unfortunately, I never got a picture of the whole group.)

And last but not least, I got to meet one of my all time favorite preachers, Kent Allen, who now works for OC.

Melinda Brookshire Photography

So, as usual, the weeks have flown by with busyness, and I again have found myself behind on pretty much everything. However, we haven't really been doing many blogworthy things so I guess it doesn't matter anyway:) I did want to share with you though that we recently drove to Hinton, OK to visit a friend of mine from college and one of my favorite photographers to have her photograph our family. She now has a sampling of those pictures on her blog. Go to http://www.blog.melindabrookshirephotography.com/ to see her work. I have admired her work for quite some time now, and was ecstatic to finally have her take our pictures. She is quite amazing, and I am thrilled with the photos that she took. Thanks Melinda!

Bedtime

Well, you saw the pumpkin patch pictures from Saturday, and needless to say Lincoln was less than thrilled. However, come bedtime, he was all smiles. He pushed his sisters around for quite some time, and when he saw the camera, he would look over and say "hi" and wave. I'm sure it was his way of avoiding bed, and I have to say, it worked. We couldn't get enough of his silly antics. I only wish he were this happy when he was dressed and ready for a photo shoot!

Pumpkin Patch 2010

Lincoln has not yet conceded to the fact that it is expected that he be happy on all family outings regardless of how tired or hungry he may be so I can take adorable pictures of him. He'll learn.... This is pretty much what I got at any attempted photos of the little man.
He did stop clinging and fussing for a brief moment and I got this one with a pretty good smile.
It required a lot of clapping, cheering and peek-a-boo! The girls know the drill, and have realized it just works out better for everyone if they cooperate. Deep down inside, I think they like it.

This is the best I could get of all three this trip. Londyn had to go to the bathroom, so she couldn't sit still, and Lincoln was really tired and only stopped fussing for brief moments here and there. It was still a fun day. The weather was amazing, and we came home with several pumpkins to help us get ready for fall.

Reminiscing...

Every year for the last several years, we have visited the pumpkin patch in Porter. I always end up with some of my favorite pictures of the kids, mostly because I love fall and the thrill of beginning fall activities makes me very happy. As I was uploading my pictures from our visit this year, I was looking back to see how much the girls have changed. I decided to post a picture of them together at our first trip to this particular patch in 2006 through our visit today. They are both getting so grown up and looking so old. 2006
