i heart faces-week 12 (kids)

I don't usually enter the i heart faces contests, the photos there for the most part are way out of my league, but when I saw the theme this week, it reminded me of this photo. It was from our church class Luau last summer. The kids were running around playing games, and I caught Londyn pouting behind one of the trees.

Out Like a Lion

I'm not sure if the old proverb about March is reversible, but it seems to have worked out that way this year. (Someone please confirm that there is a saying about March that has to do with lions and lambs. I was reading the post to Kevin and he acted as if had no idea what I was talking about.) I was all ready for spring, and here comes a snowstorm. The girls didn't seem to mind, they were thrilled to spend a little time outside wading through the snow and challenging each other to a snowball fight.

All snow days must end with a little hot chocolate and fireside conversation in matching pajamas.

When Mommy's Away........

So, what does my family do when I'm out of town? Well, apparently have a lot of fun breaking all of the usual rules. I called home Friday night around 9:00PM to chat and see what was going on. I was surprised that the girls were actually willing to talk to me. I first asked Skylar what she was doing, and she told me she was drinking a Big Red (a disgusting red carbonated soda type drink that happens to be Kevin's favorite beverage.) I could tell she was loving every sip, too. I asked her if she missed me, and she said "hmm.... not really, we got to drink soda, buy candy and eat chips and dip for dinner!"

A Whole Lotta Nothin

That's what's been going on around here, which apparently hasn't changed much as I've looked over the last few months of posts. We're still kicking, but life is busy, crazy, and hectic as usual. On top of the usual insanity, I'm still not feeling up to par. I'm feeling a little better, but headaches are still knocking me down every once in a while. Thankfully Kevin has been a good sport about listening to me complain about weight gain, headaches, no clothes to wear, etc. He's also been a lot of help around the house. I'm lucky to have such a great guy around to put up with me. I'm ready for life to slow down a little (is that possible?), April to be over, and school to end, not to mention some better weather. I mean what is this? Seventy degrees one week, and predictions of snow the next, how frustrating.

I'll leave you with a pic of Kevin entertaining the girls with a game of Monopoly Town while I was napping trying to rid myself of a headache. They're all smiles here, but the competition wasn't quite so friendly as the game came to a close.
Have a great week and weekend! Tomorrow, I'm off to Springfield, MO for a workshop. Maybe Kevin and the girls will do some exciting, blogworthy things while I'm gone, what are the chances?

Flashback Friday

The theme for flashback Friday this month is sports and recreation. I don't have access to my old sports photos, but I thought I would post a picture of the girls last year before their dance recital. It's the only recreation they are involved in. I loved these costumes, and am looking forward to another recital this year. To see more recital photos click here. This photo was taken by Betsy Gregory. If you are looking for a photographer in the Tulsa area, you should check out her site. She does an amazing job, and is reasonably priced.

Room Redo

One of my many spring break projects was to redecorate the girls' room. I've been getting things together for a while, but just finally had time to complete it. This picture is not very good, but I've tried to upload several times, and this seems to be the only one that is cooperating. Anyway, after decorating two nurseries in a row a few years back, I pretty much neglected the girls' room and tried to finish up other rooms around the house. I also figured their room was always messy anyway. For Christmas my mom got the girls the nets for over their beds and the curtains, so that motivated me to want to make it look like an actual room. I bought the fabric and my mom made all the bedding. So, over break, Kevin painted for me and I finally finished putting it all together. We got most everything done. There are few finishing touches that are needed, but for now, this is as good as it gets.

You've GOT to Be Kidding!

Well, I am still suffering severely from pregnancy brain. I've been in quite a blogging funk lately. January and February proved to be quite uneventful, but then, spring break rolled around and I thought, finally, I'll have something to blog about. We went to my parents house this weekend and did a few blogworthy things. However, I was shocked to find out that the battery in my camera was dead, and the charger was at home. So, no cute pictures of my niece Anastyn, no pictures of the girls looking at the baby calves, or just playing around with all their grandparents. I've got nothing. Unbelievable. We are now back in OK, and the girls are staying with my parents in MO for the week. I have a few projects planned for the week, we'll see if I get them accomplished. I've pretty much let things go over the last few months and need to do some catching up. If you are one of the lucky ones that gets to enjoy spring break, I hope you are having a wonderful, relaxing time.

Strep-Round 3

Sunday afternoon Skylar starting not feeling well again, so I took her to the doctor Monday morning, and sure enough, she had strep for the third time since October. Today she is finally feeling a little better, no fever, but she still complains of a headache and says her neck hurts. Poor baby girl. However, I must say she was cracking me up at the doctor's office. They had to swab her throat, and she was not being at all cooperative. I had to hold her down which is quite unusual for Skylar. Of course while the doctor and nurse are in the room, she's completely mute, but as soon as they left, she went off. She was mad about that whole swabbing thing. She says "I don't know why they call it throat tickling, there is nothing that tickles about it. They should call it throat hurting." Then she proceeds to say "Why do I always get sick? I started eating my carrots, I eat chicken and protein, and I hardly ever eat candy. I only have sucker once in a while for dessert." I feel sorry for the poor girl, she does try to do all the right things. She is also frustrated that Londyn isn't sick and she doesn't eat healthy. Londyn is frustrated that Skylar gets to stay home, and she has to go to school. It's just a no win situation for everybody. Hopefully by tomorrow she will be up to par, and no one else will get it.

Breaking Into Spring

These dresses were one of my first spring purchases for the girls. I got them on clearance a few weeks ago. I have held them in the closet waiting for a warm day. I thought Sunday would be the day to break into spring. It was supposed to get up to 80 degrees. So, I dressed them up in their spring dresses and no tights. As they walked out, they both ran back in letting me know they were freezing. Oops! I guess the temperature wasn't supposed to rise until later in the day. Oh well, I did what any good mother would do, grabbed their winter coats, threw them over their spring dresses, and we ran out the door. I don't know about you, but I am so ready for it to get warm and stay warm.

Randomness

I've been trying to post a few pics all week, but blogger has not been very cooperative. Anyway, I really don't have much to post about considering we don't do much these days, but these were a few pics I snapped around the house of the girls. Grandma, I thought you may be having withdrawals. This first photo is the bath and body works shaping soap exploding in the bath. It hadn't worked at all for quite some time, but tonight when the girls were bathing, it starting shooting foam and didn't stop until it was empty. The girls were screaming at first, but then had a great time. My bathroom still smells disgustingly blueberries.
The girls were dancing around to a little country music, but that wasn't enough, so they had to grab their princess cowgirl hats to add to the fun.
Italic The favorite new craze around the Lawrene house is grooving to All the Single Ladies. Skylar had a friend at school that taught her the song. She loved it, so she came home and taught it to Londyn and they came up with a few choreographed moves. They both start out scrunched on the floor, leap up turn around to start their show. It cracks me up. It reminds me of my sister and I when we were little, coming up with these dorky dances to songs. The pose above happens to be the "shoulda put a ring on her" part, which is Skylar's favorite part of the song.

30th Anniversary Dinner

The weekend before last, we went to Missouri to celebrate my parent's 30th anniversary. It was just my siblings and my grandmothers that got together for a lovely dinner and of course, a little dessert, to honor my parents. It's always great to have an excuse to get together. There are not many things that I would rather do than to spend time with us all together as a family. Mom and Dad, again congratulations on 30 years! Love you!

We're Still Alive

Wow! Over a week has gone by, and I don't think I've even opened the computer, or done much of anything else for that matter. In case you were wondering, we are alive and well. I've just been completely wiped out, and once I put the girls in bed I usually crash too. I've contemplated starting a new blog for my pregnancy whining, but opted out of that since I can't even keep up with one, and may sound a little negative. Let's just say I'll be really happy once I get through the next few weeks. Hopefully life will resume as normal in the coming weeks. I'm going to try to make a few posts from the last week.
